Featured Work
Facebook Story Midcards: An Easier Way to Share
+17.4% improvement to publish rate by adopting my design standards
Problem: People want to share Facebook Stories, but they aren’t sure what to share.
Solution: Smart, ready-to-share suggestions from the user’s photos.
Challenge: With a vast scope, extreme timelines, and almost no testing, the team had to be scrappy and creative to make the project work.
What I did: I created content for dozens of variants and was hands on with every aspect of their design. I also co-created the design standards that continue to define them today.
Outcome: Today, roughly ~1 in 10 stories shared on Facebook come from these sharing suggestions.
Facebook Story Tray Tiles: Doing more with less
+6.38% improvement to publish rates by adopting my content approach
Problem: Sharing suggestions are popular, but can be easy to miss.
Solution: Add sharing suggestion entry points to the story tray at the top of Facebook’s home page.
Challenge: Story tiles are extremely limited in space, and have to work across several languages and situations.
What I did: I tried several content approaches, each more successful than the last. By the end, I was shipping and testing my own experiments.
Outcome: These tiles are now one of the primary entry points for sharing suggestions.
Oculus Horizon Worlds (2021): A Social-First Achievement System
Launched in 2021 with 300K+ users in the beta release alone
Problem: We needed an achievement system, but it couldn’t intimidate new users.
Solution: Badges that were meaningful to those who earned them, without turning them into a status symbol that might make new conversations intimidating.
Challenge: Horizon is a game, social experience, and building tool, all in one. It needed an achievement system that could cover everything.
What I did: I created the entire system and named all the individual achievements.
Outcome: My achievement system was included at launch.
Malwarebytes for Windows (2019): Refreshing a Fan Favorite
Launched a complete redesign of the company’s flagship product
For more than a year, I worked as the sole content designer on a complete redesign of Malwarebytes for Windows, the company’s flagship product. As a core member of the design team, I worked on the product from early planning meetings through to its general release. I wrote nearly all the UI copy, as well as most of the marketing copy for its launch.
Malwarebytes for iOS (2019): Blocking Spam Made Easy
Launched a brand new iOS app, rated 4.6/5 on the App Store
As the UX writer on Malwarebytes for iOS, I collaborated with engineers, UI designers, and product experts to create copy for every screen in the app. From button text and feature names to instructions and disclaimers, I tried my best to make every aspect of the app usable, uncomplicated, and user-focused.
